Good Clean Trouble

Self-Initiated Clothing Project

“Good Clean Trouble” is a self-initiated clothing project by Paul Byrne that uses tattoo-inspired visuals to communicate messages of empowerment, resilience and self-expression. Drawing from the visual language of traditional and contemporary tattoo culture, the work reinterprets symbolic imagery and bold typography as wearable statements, allowing individuals to carry meaning and identity into everyday life. The project positions clothing not simply as fashion, but as a medium for personal narrative and public expression.

Rooted in Byrne’s wider practice exploring identity, the project invites reflection on the stories we choose to show and those we carry privately. Through accessible, repeatable formats, “Good Clean Trouble” extends beyond the gallery space, embedding art within daily experience and broadening its reach. The work highlights the potential of applied art forms to engage diverse audiences, using familiar visual cues to communicate ideas around strength, voice and individuality.
