Paul Byrne is an Irish artist whose practice centres on identity, exploring how people understand themselves and connect with others through shared experience. Working across public art, participatory projects and emerging technologies such as augmented reality, his work brings together personal reflection and collective storytelling. Byrne collaborates closely with communities of all ages, from youth groups to older adults, creating inclusive processes that prioritise authorship, wellbeing and meaningful engagement. His projects, supported by organisations including the Arts Council of Ireland and Creative Ireland, are grounded in the belief that creativity can open up conversations, strengthen connection and create lasting impact within both individuals and communities.

Disciplines

  • Paul has released a number of projects in recent years which explore and use augmented reality as an engaging digital layer on each piece. From large scale wall murals to clothing, books and art prints.

  • Paul is creative director of his design studio, PB Studio. Which has been successfully delivering creative projects since 2019.

  • Paul has exhibited, showcased and launched a number of public projects over the past number of years. Ranging from large scale mural projects to Augmented Reality installations. Paul has been funded by and worked with Creative Ireland, The Arts Council, Local Enterprise Offices & County Councils.

  • Paul has created and led 16 group projects over the past 5 years. Working with over 300 people in the process. Merging wellness, creative thinking and technology in various capacities to help each participant realise their inner potential and importance within their communities. The main project Paul hosts is called ‘Heart on your sleeve’ where is shows teenagers how to develop their thoughts and emotions while designing custom hoodies.
